Wipro Campus in Greater Noida - LEED

Key Facts

  • A LEED certified building in Noida - a part of the Greater Delhi area. The project was undertaken as part of Wipro's efforts to upgrade its facilities under its EcoEye charter.
  • A LEED certified building in Noida - a part of the Greater Delhi area. The project was undertaken as part of Wipro's efforts to upgrade its facilities under its EcoEye charter. In line with Wipro's EcoEye Charter, all new facilities are being designed to meet the Gold norms of the LEED Certification.

    For example:
    • Use of recycled content material for construction ( Thermal cladding, reclaimed wood, etc.)
    • Use of energy efficient gadgets for various application
    • Use of variable frequency drive, two way valve, variable air volume and pre-cooling method in HVAC system
    • Applying Integrated Building Management Systems
    • Use of exclusive sensors provided within the building to ensure CO2 concentration is within acceptable limit
    • 10 more buildings are in the process of being certified
    • Incrementally retrofit old buildings to meet LEED-Gold rating norms
    • Continual efforts are being made to explore ways to improve against the LEED norms, for example, Wipro’s Powai facility is 57% more energy efficient than the prescribed LEED norm (internal verification).
Currently, 5 buildings are LEED Certified - Gurgaon (Platinum); Kochi, Pune & Noida (Gold) ; Chennai (Silver).
    • The project took 8 months to implement
    • For the overall solution, the likely ROI is 2-3 years
    • The primary sponsor for the project was CIO

    What was the impact?

    • Did you use a specific methodology or third party to calculate CO2e or KWh savings?

LEED-India has defined a process involving independent third party following the IMPVP protocol
    • 2,267,844KWh of energy have been saved on this project
    • This saving will be made over 12 months
    • Comments on energy savings

The Kwh saved is over and above the ASHRAE India High performance building baseline.  (www.ashraeindia.org)

    • 1927 t CO2e has been saved on this project , over a period of 12 months
    • Notes about Carbon savings/calculations

0.85 kg/khw is the dead side emissions factor
    • The project has internal verification for results
